Handloom Value Chain

Development of Handloom Value Chain Project: Tradition meets modernity

The traditional Handloom of Assam has got a new dimension with the development of Handloom Value Chain Project, being implemented in two blocks, namely Ujani Majuli and Dhakuakhana with a total of 1021 beneficiaries till date. (Minimum 500 beneficiaries per block). Two common facility centres with 500 beneficiaries have been established. For training and production purpose, 20 looms have been provided to each CFCs.

Further, training on natural dyeing process have been conducted for two CFCs with 200 beneficiaries in total (100 beneficiaries per CFC). Training on advanced weaving has been started with 800 beneficiaries (400 beneficiaries per CFC) for betterment in the production level.

To produce original, innovative and enchanting designs, one design development workshop had been organized in Guwahati during April 2018. The products have also been finalized in the same. ASRLMs is expecting marketable production under the handloom value chain project in the next quarter, September-October to be precise.
